「◎童子!菩薩摩訶薩有四種言論不可思議,及其演說亦不可思議、難可盡邊。何等為四?一者、諸行言論不可思議,二者、呵責有為言論不可思議,三者、煩惱資助言論不可思議,四者、清淨言論不可思議。童子!是為菩薩四種言論不可思議,及其演說亦不可思議、難可盡邊。
"O Youth! The bodhisattva mahāsattvas have four kinds of discourse that are inapprehensible, and their exposition is also inapprehensible and difficult to fathom. What are these four? The first is the discourse on conditioned things that is inapprehensible. The second is the discourse on reproaching the conditioned that is inapprehensible. The third is the discourse on the support of afflictions that is inapprehensible. The fourth is the discourse on purity that is inapprehensible. O Youth! These are the four kinds of discourse of the bodhisattvas that are inapprehensible, and their exposition is also inapprehensible and difficult to fathom.

The fourth is the collection of sūtras regarding purity that is inapprehensible. These are the four kinds.
「童子!菩薩摩訶薩復有四種多聞。何等為四?一者、諸行多聞不可思議,二者、呵責有為多聞不可思議,三者、煩惱多聞不可思議,四者、清淨多聞不可思議;是為四種。
"O Youth! The bodhisattva mahāsattvas also have four kinds of extensive learning. What are these four? The first is the extensive learning regarding conditioned things that is inapprehensible. The second is the extensive learning regarding reproaching the conditioned that is inapprehensible. The third is the extensive learning regarding afflictions that is inapprehensible. The fourth is the extensive learning regarding purity that is inapprehensible. These are the four kinds.

The fourth is the wealth regarding purity that is inapprehensible. These are the four kinds.

The third is the wisdom for cutting off afflictions regarding afflictions that is inapprehensible. The fourth is the wisdom for cutting off afflictions regarding purity that is inapprehensible. These are the four kinds.

The third is the wisdom regarding embarrassment related to afflictions that is inapprehensible. The fourth is the wisdom regarding embarrassment related to purity that is inapprehensible. These are the four kinds.
「童子!菩薩摩訶薩復有四種實智不可思議。何等為四?一者、諸行實智不可思議,二者、呵責有為實智不可思議,三者、煩惱實智不可思議,四者、清淨實智不可思議;是為四種。

The second is the wisdom regarding matters related to reproaching the conditioned that is inapprehensible. The third is the wisdom regarding matters related to afflictions that is inapprehensible. The fourth is the wisdom regarding matters related to purity that is inapprehensible. These are the four kinds.
「童子!菩薩摩訶薩復有四種富伽羅智。何等為四?一者、諸行富伽羅智不可思議,二者、呵責有為富伽羅智不可思議,三者、煩惱富伽羅智不可思議,四者、清淨富伽羅智不可思議;是為四種。
"O Youth! The bodhisattva mahāsattvas also have four kinds of wisdom regarding persons. What are these four? The first is the wisdom regarding persons related to conditioned things that is inapprehensible. The second is the wisdom regarding persons related to reproaching the conditioned that is inapprehensible. The third is the wisdom regarding persons related to afflictions that is inapprehensible. The fourth is the wisdom regarding persons related to purity that is inapprehensible. These are the four kinds.
「童子!菩薩摩訶薩復有四種取著智。何等為四?一者、諸行取著智不可思議,二者、呵責有為取著智不可思議,三者、煩惱取著智不可思議,四者、清淨取著智不可思議;是為四種。童子!是菩薩四種取著智不可思議,及其演說亦不可思議、說不能盡。
"O Youth! The bodhisattva mahāsattvas also have four kinds of wisdom regarding attachment. What are these four? The first is the wisdom regarding attachment related to conditioned things that is inapprehensible. The second is the wisdom regarding attachment related to reproaching the conditioned that is inapprehensible. The third is the wisdom regarding attachment related to afflictions that is inapprehensible. The fourth is the wisdom regarding attachment related to purity that is inapprehensible. O Youth! These four kinds of wisdom regarding attachment are inapprehensible, and their exposition is also inapprehensible, beyond the capacity to fully express.
「童子!菩薩摩訶薩復有四種離惡道智。何等為四?一者、諸行離惡道智不可思議,二者、呵責有為離惡道智不可思議,三者、煩惱離惡道智不可思議,四者、清淨離惡道智不可思議;是為四種。
"O Youth! The bodhisattva mahāsattvas also have four kinds of wisdom regarding leaving the evil paths. What are these four? The first is the wisdom regarding leaving the evil paths related to conditioned things that is inapprehensible. The second is the wisdom regarding leaving the evil paths related to reproaching the conditioned that is inapprehensible. The third is the wisdom regarding leaving the evil paths related to afflictions that is inapprehensible. The fourth is the wisdom regarding leaving the evil paths related to purity that is inapprehensible. These are the four kinds.
「童子!菩薩摩訶薩復有四種斷無明智。何等為四?一者、諸行斷無明智不可思議,二者、呵責有為斷無明智不可思議,三者、煩惱斷無明智不可思議,四者、清淨斷無明智不可思議;是為四種。
"O Youth! The bodhisattva mahāsattvas also have four kinds of wisdom for cutting off ignorance. What are these four? The second is the wisdom for cutting off ignorance related to reproaching the conditioned that is inapprehensible. The third is the wisdom for cutting off ignorance related to afflictions that is inapprehensible. The fourth is the wisdom for cutting off ignorance related to purity that is inapprehensible. These are the four kinds.
「童子!菩薩摩訶薩復有四種陀羅尼不可思議,及其演說亦不可思議、說不能盡。何等為四?謂不可思議諸行言說,於彼中智是名初陀羅尼;不可思議呵責有為言說,於彼中智是名第二陀羅尼;不可思議煩惱資助言說,於彼中智是名第三陀羅尼;不可思議清淨資助言說,於彼中智是名第四陀羅尼。如是,四種不可思議,及其演說亦不可思議、說不能盡。
"O Youth! The bodhisattva mahāsattvas also have four kinds of dhāraṇī that are inapprehensible, and their exposition is also inapprehensible, beyond the capacity to fully express. What are these four? The first dhāraṇī is named as the wisdom within the inapprehensible discourse on conditioned things. The second dhāraṇī is named as the wisdom within the inapprehensible discourse on reproaching the conditioned. The third dhāraṇī is named as the wisdom within the inapprehensible discourse on the support of afflictions. The fourth dhāraṇī is named as the wisdom within the inapprehensible discourse on the support of purity. Thus, these four kinds are inapprehensible, and their exposition is also inapprehensible, beyond the capacity to fully express.
「童子!菩薩摩訶薩復有四種法陀羅尼。何等為四?謂不可思議諸行法,於彼中智是名初陀羅尼;不可思議呵責有為法,於彼中智是名第二陀羅尼;不可思議煩惱法,於彼中智是名第三陀羅尼;不可思議清淨法,於彼中智是名第四陀羅尼。童子!是名菩薩四種陀羅尼不可思議,及其演說亦不可思議、說不能盡。
"O Youth! The bodhisattva mahāsattvas also have four kinds of dharma dhāraṇī. What are these four? The first dharma dhāraṇī is named as the wisdom within the inapprehensible dharma of conditioned things. The second dharma dhāraṇī is named as the wisdom within the inapprehensible dharma of reproaching the conditioned. The third dharma dhāraṇī is named as the wisdom within the inapprehensible dharma of afflictions. The fourth dharma dhāraṇī is named as the wisdom within the inapprehensible dharma of purity. O Youth! These four kinds of dharma dhāraṇī are inapprehensible, and their exposition is also inapprehensible, beyond the capacity to fully express.
「童子!菩薩摩訶薩復有四種相應陀羅尼。何等為四?謂不可思議諸行相應,於彼中智是名初陀羅尼;不可思議呵責有為相應,於彼中智是名第二陀羅尼;不可思議煩惱相應,於彼中智是名第三陀羅尼;不可思議清淨相應,於彼中智是名第四陀羅尼。童子!是名四種陀羅尼不可思議,及其演說亦不可思議、說不能盡。
"O Youth! The bodhisattva mahāsattvas also have four kinds of corresponding dhāraṇīs. What are these four? The first dhāraṇī is named as the wisdom within the inapprehensible correspondence with conditioned things. The second dhāraṇī is named as the wisdom within the inapprehensible correspondence with reproaching the conditioned. The third dhāraṇī is named as the wisdom within the inapprehensible correspondence with afflictions. The fourth dhāraṇī is named as the wisdom within the inapprehensible correspondence with purity. O Youth! These four kinds of dhāraṇīs are inapprehensible, and their exposition is also inapprehensible, beyond the capacity to fully express.
「童子!菩薩摩訶薩復有四種陀羅尼門。何等為四?謂不可思議諸行門,於彼中智是名初陀羅尼;不可思議呵責有為門,於彼中智是名第二陀羅尼;不可思議煩惱門,於彼中智是名第三陀羅尼;不可思議清淨門,於彼中智是名第四陀羅尼。童子!是為四種陀羅尼門不可思議,及其演說亦不可思議、說不能盡。乃至斷除無明智皆有四種陀羅尼不可思議,及其演說亦不可思議、說不能盡,皆如上說。
"O Youth! The bodhisattva mahāsattvas also have four kinds of gateways to dhāraṇī. What are these four? The first dhāraṇī gateway is named as the wisdom within the inapprehensible gateway of conditioned things. The second dhāraṇī gateway is named as the wisdom within the inapprehensible gateway of reproaching the conditioned. The third dhāraṇī gateway is named as the wisdom within the inapprehensible gateway of afflictions. The fourth dhāraṇī gateway is named as the wisdom within the inapprehensible gateway of purity. O Youth! These four kinds of dhāraṇī gateways are inapprehensible, and their exposition is also inapprehensible, beyond the capacity to fully express. Up until the cutting off of ignorance, there are always four kinds of inapprehensible dhāraṇīs, and their exposition is also inapprehensible, beyond the capacity to fully express, as has been explained above.
「童子!是陀羅尼即是智慧,如是智慧則能了知一切諸法但有名字,是則名為法無礙智;如是法智能達於義,是名義無礙;如是法智能知諸法言辭差別,是名辭無礙。若說彼文字——若顯示、若施設、若次第不斷、若開曉、若廣、若分別、若開示令淺、若平等普示——言不吃澁、不瘖瘂、不怯訥,說不滯著,言辭任放,任放中勝,是名樂說無礙。」
"O Youth! These dhāraṇīs are themselves wisdom. Such wisdom is able to comprehend that all dharmas are merely names, and this is called the unobstructed wisdom of dharma. Such wisdom is able to reach the meaning of dharmas, and this is called the unobstructed wisdom of meaning. Such wisdom is able to know the differences in the words of all dharmas, and this is called the unobstructed wisdom of words. When explaining those words—whether revealing, constructing, maintaining sequence without interruption, elucidating, expanding, differentiating, explaining to make them simpler, or showing them equally without distinction—the speech is not hesitant, not stammering, not faltering, and is free from obstruction. The words flow freely, and within that freedom, they are superior. This is called the unobstructed wisdom of joyful speech."
爾時,世尊即說偈言:
At that time, the Bhagavān spoke in verse:
「言音所施設,
出聲亦復爾;
如所出音聲,
佛智亦復然。
"The spoken words and sounds,
Are established by their utterance;
As sounds are produced,
So too is the Buddha’s wisdom.
所有諸佛智,
聲施設亦爾;
如是施設事,
聲光明亦然。
All the wisdom of the Buddhas,
Is likewise established by sound;
In the same way, established matters,
Are also like the sound and light.
如是聲光明,
戒名亦如是;
如是戒名字,
佛名亦復然。
Just as this sound and light,
So too are the names of morality;
And in the same way, the names of morality,
Are also like the names of the Buddha.
如是佛名號,
佛功德亦爾,
我知一眾生,
悉知爾許名。
Thus, the names of the Buddha,
And the Buddha's virtues are the same,
I know of one sentient being,
And know as many names as there are.
佛無量語言,
我先已宣說,
戒名與佛名、
眾生名亦等。
The Buddha's countless languages,
I have already proclaimed before,
The names of morality and Buddha,
Are equal to the names of sentient beings.
有為多過患,
涅槃德亦然,
佛利益如是,
譬喻以顯示。
Conditioned things have many faults,
Yet the virtues of Nirvāṇa are the same,
The Buddha's benefits are like this,
Revealed through similes and metaphors.
所有諸眾生,
發心已顯示;
導師一毛孔,
出光亦如是。
All sentient beings,
Who have aroused their minds, have been revealed;
From one hair pore of the guide,
Light also radiates in this way.
一切諸眾生,
名號及信欲;
如來過於彼,
以聲身說法。
All sentient beings,
Their names and their faith and desires;
The Tathāgata surpasses them,
By speaking Dharma with sound and body.
一切眾生名,
顯示一眾生;
如是一人名,
顯示諸眾生。
All names of sentient beings,
Reveal a single sentient being;
And in the same way, a single name,
Reveals all sentient beings.
一切平等入,
此是正覺說,
說於無量名,
為諸菩薩故。
Entering all equally,
This is the teaching of perfect awakening,
Speaking of countless names,
For the sake of the bodhisattvas.
我今云何能,
說億不思經?
受持是經典,
顯示不怯弱。
How then can I,
Speak of a billion unfathomable scriptures?
Holding to this scripture,
Reveals a heart that is unafraid.
處眾無礙辯,
演說億經典,
如虛空無邊,
辯才亦如是。
In the assembly, with unobstructed eloquence,
Expounding billions of scriptures,
Like the boundlessness of space,
So too is eloquence.
是菩薩功德,
清淨導眾生,
受持是經典,
成於無盡智。
These bodhisattva merits,
Purely guide sentient beings,
By holding to this sūtra,
They attain inexhaustible wisdom.
數數顯示說,
於法能信受,
彼增長智慧,
猶如雪山樹。
Repeatedly revealing and teaching,
One who can believe and accept the Dharma,
Will grow in wisdom,
Like the trees on the snowy mountains."
