In Praise of Infinite Life

In Praise of Infinite Life: Verses Inspired by the Jōdo Shinshū Liturgy

In Praise of Infinite Light is a collection of poems inspired by the Jōdo Shinshū tradition of Pure Land Buddhism. The author, Shaku Shingan, is a Buddhist translator and scholar who has devoted his life to studying and sharing the teachings of Mahāyāna Buddhism and Shinran Shonin, the founder of Jōdo Shinshū. In this book, he offers his own poetic interpretations of some of the most important and beautiful texts in the Shin canon, such as the Sambutsuge, the Jūseige, the Jūnirai, and the Shōshin Nembutsuge. He also provides brief introductions to each text, explaining its origin, meaning, and significance for Shin Buddhists.

Through these verses, Shaku Shingan invites the reader to join him in expressing gratitude and reverence for Amida Buddha, the Tathāgata of Infinite Light and Life. This book is a rare and precious gift for anyone who wishes to deepen their understanding and appreciation of Jōdo Shinshū Buddhism.
