At that time, the Bhagavān again addressed Candraprabha, saying:
"Bodhisattva mahāsattvas should perfect skilful means. O Youth! How do bodhisattva mahāsattvas perfect skilful means? O Youth, this bodhisattva mahāsattva regards all sentient beings with the thought of kinship. Whatever accumulation of merit there is among these sentient beings, the bodhisattva rejoices in it. Day and night, during the six periods, they rejoice in that merit. Through the aspiration for omniscience, with a mind set on omniscience, they generate merit for all sentient beings. By this virtuous root, the bodhisattva swiftly attains this Samādhi and realises anuttarā samyaksaṃbodhi."
At that time, the Bhagavān then spoke a gātha:
"Regard all sentient beings as one's kin,
And rejoice in all their accumulated merit.
Day and night, during the six periods,
Always generate the wish to rejoice in that goodness.
I rejoice in their pure moral discipline,
Maintaining it perfectly until life's end,
The bodhisattva, possessing pure faith,
Rejoices in all merit.
於其法、僧信亦然;
為求無上菩提故;
Rejoicing in the faithful ones devoted to the Buddhas,
They also have faith in the Dharma and the Saṅgha;
Rejoicing in those who honour the Tathāgata,
For the sake of seeking unsurpassed bodhi.
無眾生等及壽命;
Rejoicing in those free from the view of self and others,
And from the notions of sentient beings and soul;
Rejoicing in those without wrong views,
Hearing the superior doctrine of emptiness, deeply delighting.
懷慈愍心猶如劍;
Rejoicing in the Buddha-Dharma,
Having gone forth and received full ordination,
Desiring little, content, dwelling in the forest,
With a mind of compassion as sharp as a sword.
無有諂偽託親友;
Rejoicing in those solitary and without companions,
Dwelling in the forest like a sword in its sheath,
Always seeking pure livelihood with few desires,
Free from flattery or reliance on close friends.
遊行世間無染著;
Rejoicing in those who delight in silence and avoid distractions,
Free from attachment to householders and relatives,
Always fearful within the three realms,
Roaming the world, free from defilements.
得此三昧則不難;
Rejoicing in those who abandon frivolous talk,
Detesting all rebirths in saṃsāra,
Without quarrels and walking in peace,
Attaining this Samādhi is not difficult.
求聖解脫真佛子;
Rejoicing in those who discern between good and evil,
Always free from all disputes,
Aiming for the secluded forest dwellings,
Seeking holy liberation, true children of the Buddha.
不自稱譽輕毀他;
Rejoicing in those always dwelling in seclusion,
Not praising themselves nor slandering others;
Rejoicing in those who delight in virtuous qualities,
Living in the Dharma, never heedless.
All the virtues that support the path,
Have non-negligence as their root.
If any bodhisattva is free from negligence,
Attaining this Samādhi is not difficult.
Meeting the Buddha-Dharma is the first treasury,
Going forth is the second treasury,
Pure faith without confusion is the third treasury,
Attaining this Samādhi is the fourth treasury.
聞而不謗為勝藏;
Hearing the vast, empty Buddha realms,
Hearing without slandering is the superior treasury;
If one attains eloquence, that is the treasury,
Attaining this Samādhi is also a superior treasury.
I have now spoken of those virtuous dharmas,
Namely, discipline, hearing, giving, and patience.
Non-negligence is their root,
Which the Buddha declares to be the supreme treasury.
If any bodhisattva is free from negligence,
They will swiftly possess eloquence,
Without doubts in the Buddha’s wisdom,
Attaining this Samādhi is not difficult."
