Śrī will also protect those who maintain this Sūtra and provide what they need. Those who honour the Buddha with whom she planted her merit-roots through honouring her, while maintaining pure Buddhist conduct, will also gain what they need, especially an increased heap of corn and a purified house.
1. The great goddess Śrī will give zeal to the monk who preaches the Dharma with many requisites and medicines so that he may be provided with equipment for taking up and teaching this Sūtra for the benefit of beings, that they may be awakened and cut off saṃsāra.
2. She relates that there once was a Buddha called Ratnakusumaguṇasāgaravaiḍūryakanakagirisuvarṇakāñcana-prabhāsaśrī[1] with whom Śrī planted a merit-root. She watches over all directions and blesses beings. By the power of Śrī, homage must be done to that Buddha [through] offering perfume, flowers, and incense to her, and walking around scattering/offering juices; for such a person who offers, there will grow a great heap of corn, and there it is to be said that: “The earth’s savour grows in the earth, the deities rejoice continually, the deities of the fruits crops, shrubs, bushes, and trees make the crops grow in brilliant condition.”
3. Moreover, uttering the name of the Sūtra of Golden Light will result in Śrī watching over one.
4. Śrī was dwelling in a heavenly palace and whatever man would be desirous of increasing his heap of corn should utter the name of that Buddha (Ratna- etc.), make offerings, and utter the name of this Sūtra three times while scattering juices. By the power of this Sūtra, Śrī will watch over his house and increase his heap of corn. Moreover, mantras are provided for this purpose.
5. These mantras consecrate the head, give complete success, and cannot deceive. If one pursues one’s career (as a bodhisattva) with blameless merit-roots, maintaining these mantras for seven years and observing the eight precept days, doing worship every morning and evening to all the Buddhas, will quickly have what they wish. Their house will be pure.
6. After that person provides a pure seat, and goes to a place bestrewn with flowers, Śrī will enter and stay there. At that place, no one will have deficiency and be equipped with what they need, but whatever merit-roots are performed Śrī must be given the chief share. As long as he lives she will remain there, and that one’s desires will be fulfilled.
