The voice heard coming from the sky in the previous section was a bodhisattva called Nādasvara (noise-sound) who came from the Mahāmegha (great cloud) World. He came to listen to Vajrapāṇi, but his body was in the sky.
After he rained down flowers, he declared that the Tathāgata would not teach the Dharma for long (i.e. he would enter nirvāṇa soon).
Nādasvara then appeared and exchanged greetings with the Buddha, also praising Vajrapāṇi on behalf of the Buddha of his own world.
